Exploring the Diversity of Customized Acetate Frames

1. Injection Molding with Epoxy Resin Encasing Electroplated Metal Temples (Low-Temperature Cold Assembly)

Process Description:
This process uses environmentally friendly transparent epoxy resin to completely encase electroplated metal components (such as metal sheets or decorative pieces). Epoxy resin is a transparent, high-hardness material that offers excellent weather resistance and scratch resistance. Since this is a low-temperature cold assembly process, the color of the metal does not change due to high temperatures.

Features:

  • Unlimited Metal Colors: Any electroplated color can be chosen, including gold, silver, rose gold, and rainbow.
  • Transparent Protective Layer: The layer formed by the epoxy resin effectively protects metal components from oxidation, fading, or wear.
  • Strong Three-Dimensional Effect: Products encased in resin have a noticeable three-dimensional effect, enhancing the overall texture.
  • Metal Shape Limitations: Due to the large tail end of the metal components, the design must consider that it is not possible to insert a copper pin into the epoxy resin-made temple using a punching method.
  • Adhesive Characteristics: The adhesive used is transparent; while it is possible to spray tortoiseshell oil, it should be used sparingly to maintain transparency and aesthetics.

Applicable Scenarios:

  • High-end sunglasses or eyewear frame designs.
  • Products that need to highlight metal decorative effects.
  • Environments emphasizing sustainability and durability.

Advantages:

  • Simple process and low-temperature operation, suitable for designs sensitive to metal colors.
  • Finished products have high transparency and glossiness.

Disadvantages:

  • The cost of epoxy resin is relatively high.
  • If the resin thickness is uneven, bubbles or defects may appear.

2. Acetate Combination with Electroplated and Glued Metal Temples (High-Temperature Softening of Acetate)

Process Description:
This process involves softening acetate (such as cellulose acetate) at high temperatures (approximately 200°C) and embedding electroplated metal components (such as metal strips or rings) into the acetate. This method is only suitable for three electroplated colors: gold, silver, and gunmetal, as high temperatures may affect the stability of other colors.

Features:

  • Metal Embedding Effect: Metal components are directly embedded within the acetate, resulting in a unified appearance.
  • High-Temperature Softening: Acetate becomes soft at high temperatures, facilitating the embedding of metal components.
  • Metal Color Limitations: High temperatures may cause color changes, thus only classic colors are suitable.

Applicable Scenarios:

  • Mid to high-end eyewear frame designs.
  • Products requiring perfect integration of metal and acetate.
  • Classic-style eyewear frames (such as business or vintage styles).

Advantages:

  • The embedded metal components are highly secure and not easily dislodged.
  • The finished product has a smooth surface with no visible seams.

Disadvantages:

  • Limited metal colors; not suitable for multi-color designs.
  • High-temperature processes require specialized equipment and operational skills.

3. High-Definition Material Combination Process

Process Description:
This process involves embedding materials such as high-definition printed paper, UP stickers, silk screen patterns, dried flowers, silk threads, and fabrics into acetate to create rich visual effects. These materials are typically sandwiched between two layers of acetate or fixed with resin or other adhesives.

Sub-processes:

  • Printed Paper Embedding: High-definition printers print designs on special paper, which is then embedded into the acetate.
  • UP Sticker Embedding: UP stickers are special stickers that offer high clarity and waterproof properties, suitable for embedding in acetate.
  • Silk Screen Printing: Patterns are directly printed onto acetate using silk screen technology, and then covered with a layer of transparent acetate or resin.
  • Embedding Dried Flowers, Silk Threads, Fabrics: Real materials are embedded in acetate to create natural and unique decorative effects.

Features:

  • Rich Colors and Effects: A wide variety of patterns, textures, and colors are available to meet customization needs.
  • Personalized Design: Materials like dried flowers and silk threads create unique effects that are hard to replicate.
  • Strong Environmental Benefits: Many materials (like dried flowers and fabrics) are natural or recyclable.

Applicable Scenarios:

  • Custom eyewear frame designs.
  • Products with artistic, vintage, or fashionable aesthetics.
  • Gifts or limited-edition products.

Advantages:

  • Highly personalized designs can be achieved.
  • Strong color and texture representation.

Disadvantages:

  • The manufacturing process is complex and costs can be high.
  • Some materials (like dried flowers) may not be durable and require additional protection.

4. Combination of Different Acetate Layers

Process Description:
This process involves combining different colors, materials, or textures of acetate to create a striking contrast or gradient effect. The combination can be done through physical bonding (such as glue) or thermal bonding (by melting the acetate together at high temperatures).

Features:

  • Diverse Combinations: Different colors or materials of acetate can be freely mixed to create strong visual impact.
  • Strong Layering Effect: The combined acetate clearly shows layers, making it suitable for products with strong design elements.
  • Flexible Process: Combination methods and ratios can be customized based on customer needs.

Applicable Scenarios:

  • Fashion eyewear frame designs.
  • Products that highlight color contrast or material differences.
  • Vintage, modern, or minimalist designs.

Advantages:

  • The process is relatively simple, and costs are manageable.
  • The visual effect is striking, easily attracting consumer attention.

Disadvantages:

  • Improper joining may result in uneven seams.
  • High-quality acetate is required; inferior acetate may affect the overall effect.

Summary

These four combination processes each have their unique features, suitable for different design needs:

  • Injection Molding with Epoxy Resin Encasing Electroplated Metal Temples: Suitable for high-end designs emphasizing metal decorative effects.
  • Acetate Combination with Electroplated and Glued Metal Temples: Suitable for classic styles where metal and acetate perfectly integrate.
  • High-Definition Material Combination Process: Suitable for personalized customization, emphasizing a variety of patterns and textures.
  • Combination of Different Acetate Layers: Ideal for fashion designs that highlight color and material contrasts.
